Rockbrook 2024

Hello readers, I am part of this year’s international staff coming all the way from Scotland! This will be my first time at a summer camp and my first time in the USA, so this is all new to me. I grew up spending many summers camping with my family, this set me up for my love of the outdoors so I can’t wait to see Rockbrook camp in real life. I can’t wait for the new camp routine and live my best camp life! I am ready to bring lots of laughs and good vibes to Camp (I don’t take life too seriously) and hopefully learn a thing or two myself along the way.

My name is Greta, I am 18 (turning 19 at camp!) and I have lived in Nottingham, England my whole life. I come from a family of 5, with two older sisters. We have always been a quite close-knit and outdoorsy, so sports and outdoor activities have been a big part of my childhood. I have a dog and cat that I adore, and really enjoy being around animals.

I am really excited about working at Rockbrook this summer, not only because I have never been America but I also really enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new environments. I am hoping to be a good, enthusiastic role model to the girls, and I am sure I will learn a thing or two from them!

I’m from the UK and currently in my first year at University. I actually saw Camp America advertised on instagram and I immediately knew that I would be spending my summer “across the pond”. I actually met our wonderful staff director Laura at a job fair in Edinburgh and just knew there and then that Rockbrook is where I needed to be!!! I’m super excited to come across and be a Rockbrook girl, I just know it’s going to be amazing. We’re all going to have an amazing time and I can tell it’s going to be the best summer ever – it’s especially exciting for me because I used to do Rainbows; Brownies and Girl guides, which were some of the best years of my life and I’ve always wanted to go back!! So this is sort of a dream come true.

I am a bubbly, outgoing, fun loving, slightly crazy girl (who will forever be 7 at heart) and I’m constantly moving, dancing and full of energy – although I do love my sleep as well. I know for a fact that you’ll all be able to hear my laugh from the other side of camp when we’re there, I’d say sorry but I’m not because that just means we’re all having a fun time!!!
I hope to bring some of my energy and giggles to every person at Rockbrook and I can’t wait to meet every single one of you!!! We’re going to have the best time, I’ll make sure of it!!!

Hi everyone! My name is Olivia Vorhis, and this will be my 9th summer at camp and my first year on staff! My first year at camp was way back in 2013. At camp, you can find me at the lake, reading a good book on the hill, or making a friendship bracelet on a lodge porch! I can’t wait to see lots of familiar faces this summer and meet so many new people!

Hey! My name is Laurel I’m from Philadelphia Pennsylvania and I am a rising junior in college at LaGrange College!
This is my first year as a camp counselor at Rockbrook! I run Cross Country, Track and Field for my college and I love all sorts of music!
I love kids and camp was a great chance for me to tap into my younger side while also getting to understand everyone around me! In my free time you can find me doing yoga and coloring while singing Adele! I am a very outgoing person and I love late night talks under the stars while sipping tea!!
I can’t wait to meet everyone!

As a child, my siblings and I spent most of each summer with my grandparents (retired school teachers) where we grew up in Southern California. They encouraged us to be creative, silly, brave, and to try new things! We dressed in costumes, put on magic shows, baked cookies, practiced our fishing casts in the pool, built race cars using my grandpa’s red dolly, went on camping trips…this was my summer camp!

As I prepare for my second summer at Rockbrook, I feel happy to be a part of this team of kind and caring humans who help to create this magical space for campers to let go and be their true selves. I am looking forward to seeing the new and familiar faces of this summer’s campers and staff, and getting to spend another summer as a part of this incredible community – the Rockbrook Community. <3

Was it chance or fate that brought me to Brevard, NC in the heart of a wooded mountain? We may never know! My journey began with Rockbrook in the summer of 2006 as a camper. Whether camper, counselor, Equestrian Staff, or in my current role as the Staff Director, I have always had a passion for the outdoors and a sense of community. And boy, does Rockbrook fit the bill. Camp life provides the simple joys in life we all crave, the adventures we need to grow and the haven to be ourselves that we all deserve. I am proud to be a Rockbrook Girl!

Hi there! I may look a little different but I’m part of staff too! My name is Felix, and I’m Rockbrook’s camp dog! I’m 6 years old, but if you are around for second session, you’ll get to celebrate my 7th birthday with me! Some of my favorite things to do at camp are checking out trashcans for muffin wrappers, hanging out at the kitchen door, and “lifeguarding” at the lake! Well, I’m actually kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to swimming. Speaking of muffins, I LOVE food. And trash. I know lots of tricks and will gladly do one for a treat! But my waistline would appreciate it if you didn’t feed me any food except treats given to you by a director. I’m a little shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I will be your best friend! You can find me hanging out with Sarah, taking a nap on the porch of the office, or running by with the Rockbrook Runners! I can’t wait to see you this summer,

Although I was never a camper at Rockbrook, I grew up in Kentucky and attended a few different Girl Scout camps. I always enjoyed going to camp for the singing, making new friends, and sleeping in platform tents. In college, I knew I wanted to be a camp counselor and ended up finding Rockbrook. The community at Rockbrook is truly one-of-a-kind and has brought me back summer after summer. Now, I am lucky enough to live and work at camp year-round as program director and it still feels like a dream!

I hope this summer to make new friends, learn something new, eat lots of muffins, and to be appreciative of every moment spent at camp. It has been a joy planning the fun we will have at camp this summer and I am counting down the days until all of you are here with me!!
